Fishing in Scotland can only be described as "world class". The quality and variety of the fish available and the picture postcard views cannot be surpassed, this area has it all. The lochs and lochans here provide the kind of fishing experience that most people can only dream about. Many of these lochs and lochans hardly see an angler from one year to the next, so angling pressure on fish is not an issue in fact some areas have more lochs than land it seems. This could be your ultimate fishing experience.
Game Fishing

If really wild brown trout (sea trout) is your thing then look no further than the Assynt region, seen by many experts as quite simply the best in the world – go ahead hook yourself a monster fish. The lochs and rivers are full of hard fighting fish and a permit here wont cost you an arm and a leg – for example, the Assynt Angling Group sell a 7 day permit for only £30.00 covering you to fish around 150 lochs. Many lochs have boats available for hire whilst others are perfect for shore fishing and in this region you're only normally a few minutes walk from the next loch if you fancy your luck there. The official season for brown trout is from March 15th to October 6th inclusive – if you want to visit us outside of these dates we will make enquiries for you, as some waters do open earlier and close later than others dependent on location.
Sea Angling
For the off shore fisherman top quality boat hire and charters are available from Lochinver Harbour. There are many, many hidden coves, fabulous sea lochs and islands up on the west coast for shore and boat based fishing and one thing is guaranteed it won't be crowded. One fantastic thing about shore fishing in Scotland is that you, the public are allowed free access to nearly every part of the coast. Just remember to exercise consideration and act responsibly to ensure that this continues to be the case. A benefit of being on the very northerly west coast is that most of the fish here have never seen bait or a lure and massive pollack and bass are just waiting to be hooked. If the winds blowing out to sea are strong, then head for one of the sheltered sea lochs and be rewarded with pollack, ling and cod amongst other varieties.

At the very least you will have time to come up with a great tale whist soaking up the stunning, awe inspiring scenery – whatever the result at the end of the day, it doesn't get much better than this.
And finally...
Please make your self familiar with the "catch and release code" for where you are fishing. Study the conditions of any permit you get and if in doubt check with the landowner/angling club whose prior permission you will have obtained to fish to avoid any confusion.
